Bumpdate // Week 12

2611597A-5F50-432D-A4C0-B27A1053ACEAI am the worst pregnant person! I haven’t taken one bump picture yet and we’re twelve weeks in. I meant to take one this weekend, but I was too preoccupied to remember. Sam and I went to Northern Virginia for a triple birthday barbecue for my sisters and me (our birthdays are all a week apart – July 20th, July 28th (me!) and August 4th). We finished the weekend by attending the amazing Outcry Tour which featured Hillsong United, Jesus Culture and Kari Jobe. I really wish I had stopped to take a picture though because, sometime in the last week, my “baby bloat” turned into a definite baby bump. I promise to take a picture to share next week!

How far along are you? 12 weeks and 3 days.

How big is baby? The size of a plum. Baby E is 2.5 inches and .5 oz.

Total weight gain? Not sure. I haven’t weighed myself since my last midwife appointment.

How are you feeling? My mornings are still terrible. I have to vomit as soon as I open my eyes each morning. I still feel nauseous after my first few meals of the day, but my evenings are slowly getting back to normal. I’m still dealing with lots of indigestion, but the headaches have almost disappeared. Almost. The important thing is that, although my symptoms aren’t really getting better, I’m learning to cope better which is great.

What are you wearing a lot of lately? Dresses, leggings, flowy tank tops and maternity jean shorts from Target. And when all else fails, I put on workout clothes.

How’s your sleep? Getting better everyday! I’ve given up on naps because they seem to start my morning sickness all over again. That means that by bedtime I am so delirious that I fall right asleep. I even fell asleep while Sam was praying for me last night – I felt so bad! I’m also waking up less frequently in the middle of the night. So sleep is good right now.

Food cravings? Ice cream (still) and fruit; cherries, granny smith apples, and plums mostly.

Food aversions? I still can’t eat fish and I’m not a huge fan of eggs right now either. So basically anything that has a strong odor.

Best moment this week? Having family members notice my little baby bump. Since I look at myself everyday, it’s hard to notice a difference sometimes.

What are you looking forward to? I still have 8 weeks to go, but I am dying to find out what we’re having. We already have names picked out for each so now we just need to find out which one of our future children will be joining us first!

Bumpdate // Week 11

Screen Shot 2015-07-20 at 12.41.56 PM

One of these days, I’m going to have the energy to post about something other than my pregnancy. For now, I’m a bit consumed by it so please forgive the lack of other posts. In everyday life news…Sam had to go on a business trip for a few days, so I took it as an opportunity to come to Northern Virginia to hang with my family. We only live two hours away, but sometimes it feels like twenty (especially when I’m sick and stuck in my house all day and the rest of my family is together doing fun stuff). So I’m determined to ignore my sickness for a few days and get in as much fun as possible before I have to head home.

Here’s what’s happening with Baby Everett this week…

How far along are you? 11 weeks and 3 days.

How big is baby? The size of a LIME! Huge growth spurt from last week! Which reminds me that I really need to start taking my bump pictures…

Total weight gain? 3ish pounds. I’ve lost a pound or two thanks to the daily vomit session I’ve recently added to my morning routine. I’m not worried about it though since it’s only a couple of pounds and I’m still in the first trimester. I know I’ll gain it back plus more in the coming months.

How are you feeling? So so sick. As I mentioned above, I’m throwing up every single morning no matter what I do. I’ve finally come to accept it as my “new normal” (at least for a few more weeks), but it still sucks. My nausea has also became an all-day thing and it’s heightened after I eat which makes eating a real struggle. I don’t skip meals because pregnancy hunger is unlike any hunger I’ve ever experienced, but I definitely don’t look forward to them. I’m also still struggling with headaches.

What are you wearing a lot of lately? I’ve moved into the Summer dress phase of pregnancy. It’s way too hot for leggings right now and I still haven’t found a pair of maternity shorts that will fit me now and later (when my bump has grown). I have a few Old Navy and Target dresses that I’ve been rotating lately.

How’s your sleep? Better, except that (most nights) I wake up in the middle of the night feeling absolutely famished. I try to remember to eat a little snack before bed to help with this. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But otherwise, I’m sleeping well.

Food cravings? Digiorno thin crust pepperoni pizza is what I eat the most. It’s not so much of a craving as it is the only meal I can handle without feeling sick. I still crave ice cream on a daily basis and I still try to ignore it (but I fail often).

Food aversions? I’m still avoiding fish as well as fried foods.

Best moment this week? Hearing our baby’s heartbeat again at our appointment last Wednesday. When our midwife found the heartbeat, Sam ran over to the table so that he could record it on his phone. It was probably the cutest thing I’ve ever seen him do.

What are you looking forward to? Getting out of the first trimester and (hopefully) out of the morning sickness phase.

Bumpdate // Week 10

11745854_10102487872904629_768945692648735511_n

I’m a few days late posting this week’s bumpdate because Sam and I were out of town this weekend for my family reunion. I didn’t bring my computer with me because I wanted a few days of uninterrupted family time. It was so much fun, but I am exhausted! My baby might still be tiny, but my body has officially settled into pregnancy. I can fall asleep in seconds and my stamina is nonexistent. A simple game of cornhole in the sun almost took me out! Let’s see what else is new this week…

How far along are you? 10 weeks and 3 days.

How big is baby? The size of a prune. He/she is an inch and a half long now!

Total weight gain? I think it’s still around 5 or 6 pounds. I’ll know for sure later this week when I go back to the doctor.

How are you feeling? AWFUL! In the time since my last bumpdate, my morning sickness has progressed from simple nausea to nausea and vomiting. Not every day, but enough to make me miserable. I’ve also started having daily headaches. I’m really hoping this is the worst of it and I’m counting down the weeks until the second trimester.

What are you wearing a lot of lately? Summer dresses, flowy tank tops and leggings. Old Navy has a ton of great dresses and tank tops right now!

Have you noticed any stretch marks yet? None yet!

How’s your sleep? I’m sleeping better as long as we keep our bedroom freezing cold. I also have to sleep with three pillows: two under my head and one in between my legs.

Food cravings? PB&J sandwiches. They fill me up without making me feel sick. I also crave ice cream most nights, but I try not to indulge because dairy doesn’t usually agree with me.

Food aversions? This isn’t technically an aversion because I still love it, but I’ve noticed that I can’t handle hot sauce or anything too spicy anymore. And I loooove hot sauce (especially Cholula hot sauce). I’ll be mourning this loss for a while.

What are you looking forward to? Having an actual baby bump. I will be extremely happy when I get out of this majorly bloated phase.

Any milestones this week? I’m finally in the double digits! 10 weeks down, 30 to go!

Bumpdate // Week 9 (take two)

8w6d ultrasound 1 copyThis week has certainly been one for the books! Because of a tiny scare in the beginning of the week, we had an early ultrasound yesterday. Thankfully, we had nothing to worry about! More importantly, we saw our little nugget for the first time AND heard his/her heartbeat. I could’ve listened to that sound all day long. Isn’t it so crazy how differently you view an ultrasound picture once it’s your baby? It was such a relief to see our baby and know that he/she is healthy and thriving! I did receive some slightly unfortunate news though: I’m a week behind what we originally thought. So I have a new February due date and I have to do week 9 over again. I’m just hoping that doesn’t equal an extra week of morning sickness as well. I’m not going to do a bumpdate survey this week since my last one was on Monday and not much has changed since then. I’ll save the next bumpdate for my real week 10 next Friday.

Happy 4th of July!
