I love to read Christmas books with my kids every night during the holiday season. Although, if I’m being completely honest, we started reading these the night of Halloween! I just couldn’t help it! There are millions of great Christmas books out there, but I’m sharing my top five for this month’s Baby Book Club. I would love to hear what the favorites are in your house too.
The Story of Christmas // Helen Dark
The illustrations in this book remind me of the It’s a Small World ride at Magic Kingdom. The pictures are vibrant and colorful and the characters all look like little dolls. But more importantly, this book tells the story of Jesus’s birth in a way that small children can understand. We love this one.
Jesus Calling: The Story of Christmas // Sarah Young
This book is like a Christmas devotional for children. It could be read all the way through, but I like to read just one page per night. It’s probably best for elementary-aged kids, but we’ve still been enjoying it!
This is the Christmas Story // Kids Read Truth
This is the newest book in our collection and it has quickly become my favorite. It tells the Christmas story, but it starts with Adam and Eve and ends with Jesus. It also includes scriptures at the bottom of each page. For now, we just read the story, but as the girls get older and start to learn Bible verses, we’ll read the scriptures too.
How The Grinch Stole Christmas // Dr. Seuss
We try to keep the focus of Christmas on Christ in our house, but that doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy the classics too. The Grinch is one of our favorite Christmas movies, but this is actually the first year that we’ve owned the book. It’s such a fun read with an important message.
Harper’s Night Before Christmas // Hallmark
Harper received this book for Christmas one year and she asks for it almost every night. It’s a personalized version of The Night Before Christmas. It’s a fun read and Harper loves to hear her name and see a little girl who looks like her on the pages of a book.
