Time for my second bumpdate! This picture of my wedding shoes and my flower girl’s shoes makes me really want to have a baby girl. I love the idea of incorporating elements from our wedding (like my veil and sash) in her newborn pictures. The photo has nothing to do with this bumpdate, but I keep forgetting to ask Sam to take a picture of me so it’s all I’ve got today. I don’t really have a bump yet anyway. Just tons of bloat! So here’s what’s happening this week…
How far along are you? 9 weeks and 3 days.
How big is baby? The size of a grape (or an olive). Just under an inch long and not even a full ounce yet.
Total weight gain? 5 pounds – which slightly stresses me out because I’ve been advised (based on my pre-pregnancy weight) to keep my weight gain between 20-25 pounds. I’m trying not to worry about it too much until after I get through the first trimester and want to eat something other than carbs all day everyday.
How are you feeling? Still gross. I’m nauseous most days from the time I get out of bed until about 5pm. I’m powering through it the best that I can. I can’t get rid of this runny/stuffy nose I got a few weeks back which is more annoying than anything else. I’ve been getting slight headaches more often lately as well. And I am always hot which makes me very thankful that I’m having a Winter baby!
What are you wearing a lot of lately? Leggings and flowy tops. I only have one pair of boyfriend jeans that are still semi-comfortable (thanks to my bloated belly) so I reach for leggings most days. I borrowed a pair of H&M stretchy harem pants from my mom last week and I’ll probably live in those for the next few months as well. I’m excited to have an actual baby bump so I can wear more fitted tops and dresses without worrying that I just look like I put on a lot of newlywed weight.
Have you noticed any stretch marks yet? No yet, but I’ve already started slathering on Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Nourishing Body Oil and Belly Butter every day after I shower. There are so many other belly oils and butters I want to try, but I figured I’d go with a cheaper product in the beginning when my skin isn’t stretching too much.
How’s your sleep? Not great at all. Like I said above, I’m always hot so I toss and turn all night trying to find a cool spot on my pillow. Overall, I’m uncomfortable because I feel…heavier. I even have to sleep with a pillow in between my legs already. The crazy dreams and frequent bathroom trips definitely aren’t helping either. I didn’t think this would start so early! Does anyone have any tips to help with this?
Food cravings? Cereal (Cinnamon Life mostly) and Pho Chicken. Weird…I know.
Food aversions? Didn’t notice any specific ones this week, but it is getting much more difficult to choose what I want to eat each day because nothing ever sounds good. I blame the nausea.
Best moment this week? Being able to freely talk about the baby and the pregnancy now that everyone knows about it.
What are you looking forward to? My 12 week prenatal appointment where we’ll hear the baby’s heartbeat for the first time!
Any milestones this week? According to The Bump, my baby has graduated from an embryo to a fetus so that’s exciting!
