I have a confession to make: I don’t wear makeup every day. I don’t even wear it most days. I’ve never been one of those women who takes the time to apply a full face of makeup every morning, even before I had kids. Having said that, I do still love makeup and trying new beauty products. And when I have the time, I will put on at least a little bit of makeup to get rid of the “exhausted mom” look. In the last three years, I’ve really pared down my makeup collection to my absolute necessities. Some moms have a “momiform.” I have my “mom makeup.” I can do my face with these 7 products in 10 minutes or less. I still try new products from time to time, but I always go back to these tried and true heroes.
// Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (in Amande) – This is the best under-eye concealer I’ve ever tried. It is super easy to apply, doesn’t get stuck in my creases, and makes me look rested instantly. If I could only choose one product from this list, it would be this…or my eyebrow pencil (see #7).
// Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer (in Walnut) – I’ve been wearing this tinted moisturizer since college. I always buy the oil-free version because I typically have combination/oily skin, but I could probably switch to the regular one during pregnancy. I apply this with my fingers or with a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. It lasts all day and gives just enough coverage.
// Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder (in Golden Orange) – I’ve tried tons of powders, but I always come back to this one. Surprisingly, this color is perfect for my skin tone (no ashy skin here!) and it keeps the oil at bay for most of the day.
// Maybelline The Falsies Mascara – Admittedly, I’m not really a drugstore beauty lover (I need to be able to try before I buy!), but there are a few drugstore products that I swear by. This mascara is far better than most of the expensive mascaras I’ve tried and it’s my all-time favorite.
// Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss (in Nude) – I’m a lip balm girl all the way. I never leave home without it and I definitely don’t wear any colored lip products without applying lip balm first. But sometimes you need a little color on your lips to keep you from looking dead. I have a few lipsticks that I rotate (most of which are discontinued unfortunately), but this gloss stays in my purse or diaper bag at all times. It’s the perfect nude for my skin tone and it isn’t sticky (there’s nothing worse than a sticky lip gloss!). I have to admit that I’m actually not sure if Nude is the color that I wear. The one I have doesn’t have a name on it, but I’m pretty sure this is it.
// Yves Saint Laurent Baby Doll Kiss & Blush (in Orange Fougueux) – I’ve been wearing this cream blush for years and I haven’t had to repurchase it yet. You only need a tiny dab on each cheek to get the perfect warm glow. I have two other favorite blushes (Tom Ford Blush in Flush and NARS blush in Taj Mahal), but I wear this one the most because of how quick and easy it is to apply.
// Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz (in Dark Brown) – This is my holy grail brow product. I’ve tried so many eyebrow products, and even fallen in love with some others, but this one is the best of the best. I love a bold brow, but for my everyday look I want my eyebrows to look full, but natural. This pencil allows you to do small strokes that mimic brow hairs so you won’t end up with an obviously drawn-in eyebrow.
